How many times have you forgotten something in your car? Probably too many to count. While most people can't imagine forgetting a child in the car, it happens, especially with the hustle and bustle of daily routine. Sadly, the outcome is usually deadly. Between 1998 and 2010, an estimated 496 children succumbed to hypothermia deaths after being left in hot cars. In 2010 alone, 49 children died in senseless tragedies. At least 51 percent of children were forgotten by the caregivers while 30 percent were playing in an unattended vehicle and 17 percent were purposely left in the car by an adult. Children who are left in cars suffer from heat stroke, which essentially kills them. The core body temperature reaches 107 degrees and the body's organs shut down. Even though the temperature outside might be 70 degrees, the temperatures in the car become too much for a child to withstand.
