The heat is on - and it's only going to get worse. All the SPF in the world often isn't enough to protect your child from the beating sun in those hotter-than-heck months. But there is a ray of light. You can take other fool-proof measures to cover your kids up and keep them from being burnt to a crisp. Of course, sunscreen is always your first line of defense. It should be applied before your child ever leaves the house. Even on cloudy days, your child should be slathered in sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or more. Apply at least an ounce, or the amount that would fit in a shot glass. Sunscreen should be reapplied every couple of hours. If your child is going to be in the pool, ocean or other water, opt for waterproof sunscreen. Also pick up a tube of lip balm with SPF to protect the mouth. Look for clothing that is protective against UV rays. Solartex Sun Gear offers 50+SPF sun-protective swimwear, activewear and hats.
