It takes a special person to enjoy housecleaning. If you're not one of them but you realize that somebody has to do it, follow these 9 tips to get your house clean fast.
Tip #1
The first thing you need to do is to gather all of the supplies together into a carryall. A carryall is a plastic tray that has a handle. It looks like a tray out of a toolbox and you can get one in the tool section of your local store.
Put all the cleaning essentials that you need in this carryall. This way, you have everything that you need and you can carry it with you from room to room. It will save you a lot of time running back and forth from room to room.
Some of the cleaning supplies you need to keep in your carryall are:
- Dust cloths
- Furniture polish
- Window cleaner
- Paper towels
- Bathroom or all-purpose cleaner like 409
- Scrubby pads
- Ostrich feather duster
- Large garbage bags
Once you have your carryall stocked, you're ready for action.
Tip #2
When you clean each room, go in one direction. Work around the room from top to bottom from right to left. Also, start at one end of your home and clean from one end to the other. The purpose of this strategy is that it keeps you organized. You are cleaning with a direction and purpose in mind and it keeps you from hopping around from task to task.
Tip #3
As you go through each room, use your large garbage bag to empty all the wastebaskets and throw away any clutter - old magazines, opened letters etc.
Tip #4
When you clean your windows, first wipe the windowsills clean of dust so the dust doesn't get wet when you spay the windows. Spray the windows and clean with either a squeegee or use your paper towels.
Tip #5
To dust faster, you can get all of your silk flowers clean by using your blow dryer. Use your feather duster for all of your furniture, picture frames, knick-knacks, and lampshades.
Tip #6
Change your air conditioner and heater filters every three months. This keeps dust from circulating in your home and you won't have to dust as often.
Tip #7
Dust your ceiling fan blades once a month. This keeps dust from flying around the room.
Tip #8Avoid interruptions while you clean. Turn the TV off. Turn the phone off or let the answering machine take a message. If you stop to chat "for just a moment" you will soon find that "moment" has turned into an hour. By that time, you will have lost all of your momentum for cleaning.
Tip #9
Vacuum last. This way, you can vacuum up any dust or crumbs that you knocked into the floor while you were doing all of your other cleaning.
Stick with these tips for super fast cleaning. When you're through, reward yourself with a good, hot bath. You've earned it!
