If charity begins at home, then so does weight loss. If you're one of those people who needs yet another reason to get out there and exercise, this is it. Just about any - and every - community has some type of fitness fundraising event. In addition to raising money, you're also helping to raise awareness for the charity of your choice by doing your part. Whether it's the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure or the March of Dimes March for Babies, all of these events are equally important. Some people prefer to get involved with charity events on a national level, while others prefer to take up local causes. Regardless, there are plenty of opportunities available for those individuals who want to make a difference, not just in the world, but in their health as well. And you have plenty of activities to choose from. There are half marathons, full marathons, 5K or 10k races, bike tours, or even triathlons for the seasoned fitness buff. It's not just the actual event that gets you moving; it's the entire process. You'll be on your toes as you work to gather sponsors for your event to donate money. Of course, you'll also have to train for the event so that you'll be able to go the distance. Plus, you may meet like-minded folks with the same fitness goals and find yourself with a few new workout buddies. So why not become a part of the movement?
