Fresh, bright bruscetta puts the punch back in your dinner bread. This recipe tops sour dough bread with Italian tomatoes, sweet basil, and extra virgin olive oil, making it a perfect pairing for your pasta meal.

Ingredients

  

  • 8 slices, or 8″ round “wheel” sour dough French bread loaf
  • 1/4 cup(s) olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon(s) butter, melted
  • 2 to 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 to 3 Italian tomatoes, cubed
  • 1 cup(s) (Small bunch) fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 dash(es) salt, to taste

Instructions

 

  • Slice the bread and brush each half with a light coat of melted butter and a heavier coat of olive oil.
  • Sprinkle on garlic and salt.
  • Toast lightly in oven under broil setting (careful don’t scorch the butter).
  • Remove and immediately top with diced tomatoes and basil.
  • Serve immediately.
