Tangy Green Beans & Bacon

Bring home the bacon... and the beans. Adding a couple of slices of bacon to green beans gives this dish a mean and tasty punch. Serve it alongside your favorite mealtime staples.

Ingredients
  

  • 907 9/50 grams green beans (2 lbs.)
  • 2 bacon slices
  • 4 tablespoon(s) minced shallots
  • 19/100 cup(s) coarsley chopped almonds
  • 2 tablespoon(s) brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoon(s) balsamic vinegar

Instructions
 

  • Cook green beans in boiling water for 2 minutes.
  • Drain and rinse under cold water.
  • Drain well; set aside.
  • Cook bacon in a small skillet over medium-high heat until crisp.
  • Remove bacon from skillet.
  • Crumble and set aside.
  • Add shallots to bacon fat in skillet; saute 1 minute.
  • Add almonds and saute 1 minute.
  • Remove and let cool.
  • Add sugar and vinegar; stir until sugar dissolves.
  • Add crumbled bacon.
  • Pour vinaigrette over beans, tossing gently to coat.
  • Ready in 20 min.
