Simple Gingerbread

Most people don’t realize that gingerbread is so simple to make. If you like your gingerbread a bit moister, add a little bit more water or a little more vegetable oil.

Ingredients

  

  • 1/2 cup(s) white sugar
  • 1/2 cup(s) butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup(s) molasses
  • 2 1/2 cup(s) all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon(s) baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon(s) ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon(s) ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 8 floz hot water

Instructions

 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease and flour a 9-inch square pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter.
  • Beat in the egg, and mix in the molasses.
  • In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.
  • Blend into the creamed mixture.
  • Stir in the hot water.
  • Pour into the prepared pan.
  • Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow cooling in pan before serving.
  • Ready in Hour 45 min.
