Rich Icing Cream

Homemade frosting doesn’t need to be complicated. This rich buttercream icing is ideal for cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, or any other dessert. For extra wow, you can swap out the vanilla extract for another extract or flavoring, or add a few drops of food coloring to make it pop.

Ingredients

  

  • 2 1/2 tablespoon(s) flour
  • 1/2 cup(s) milk
  • 1/2 cup(s) sugar
  • 1/2 cup(s) shortening
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1 tablespoon(s) butter
  • 2 cup(s) confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract

Instructions

 

  • Mix flour and milk well, bring to a boil, and cool.
  • Combine and mix well the granulated sugar, shortening, salt and butter and add to flour and milk mixture.
  • Combine the 2 cups confectioners’ sugar and the vanilla extract and mix well.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • The longer you beat the better it is.
  • Can be refrigerated for 2 months.
