Party Bread

This is great for dinner parties. Prepare it in advance, stick it in the oven and forget it until time to serve dinner. Leftovers are good re-warmed the next day. Brush some olive oil and salt it and you will have the perfect appetizer for your special dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 12 ounce(s) French or Mexican crusty bread loaf
  • 1 1/2 sticks of butter or extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) garlic salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) marjoram
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) thyme

Instructions
 

  • Cut the bread into 1 inch slices down to 1/2 inch from the bottom crust so that it is not cut all the way through.
  • Cram the remaining ingredients into a spread.
  • Spread the butter mixture on each side of each slice of bread.
  • If any remains, spread it across the top of the loaf.
  • Wrap the bread in aluminum foil and bake in a slow oven (about 325 degrees) for at least an hour, longer if you like.
