
Oysters Mornay
Do you have a hankering for gourmet oysters? Oh what the shell! Use this recipe to prepare fresh, cheese-topped oysters. It's the perfect pre-meal treat.
Ingredients
- 24 oysters (half shell, or use an oyster knife to open)
- 2 cup(s) milk
- 8 ounce(s) grated gruyere cheese
- 2 tablespoon(s) Parmesan cheese
- 33/50 tablespoon(s) corn flour
- 2 tablespoon(s) Parmesan cheese (extra)
- 1/8 teaspoon(s) rock salt, as much as desired
Instructions
- Prep time is for oysters already halved.
- Heat milk in a pan and when hot, mix a little water with corn flour, and add to milk, stirring until mixture thickens to a thick consistency.
- Add Gruyere and 2 tbsp Parmesan and stir until cheese has melted.
- Pour rock salt into an oven-proof dish, enough to cover the bottom and help oysters to sit evenly.
- Place oysters in dish, spoon sauce over oysters to cover and sprinkle remaining Parmesan cheese over each oyster (note: 2 tbsp approx enough to cover).
- Grill oysters until browned and bubbling.
- Ready in 30 min.
