
Good Peas
When you're serving a holiday crowd, this side is sure to a-"peas" even the pickiest eaters. Smoked ham and hot peppers give this staple veggie a kick of flavor.
Ingredients
- 32 ounce(s) water
- 8 ounce(s) smoked ham
- 9 cup(s) fresh peas
- 6 hot peppers in vinegar, drained
- 1 teaspoon(s) sugar
- 1 teaspoon(s) salt
- 1 teaspoon(s) pepper
Instructions
- Bring 1 quart water and smoked ham hock to a boil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Reduce heat to low, and simmer 30 minutes.
- Stir in peas and remaining ingredients; cover and simmer 25 to 30 minutes or until peas are done.
- Ready in 1 hour.
