
Flavored Apple Pie
Nothing says tradition quite like apple pie. When you have people lining up for a slice, you don't want to run out. So double the ingredients and bake two pies for the price of one. It won't go to waste.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup(s) sugar
- 1/4 cup(s) cornstarch
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
- 3 cup(s) fresh rhubarb cut in 1-inch pieces
- 2 large tart apples, pared, cored and chunked
- 2 tablespoon(s) butter
- 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
Instructions
- Combine sugar, cornstarch, salt and cinnamon.
- Toss with rhubarb and apples until well mixed.
- Let stand 15 to 20 minutes.
- Add vanilla and mix well, pour into pastry-lined 9-inch pie plate, dot with butter and cover with the top crust or lattice top and seal.
- Bake in 400-degree oven about 55 to 60 min.
- Brush top with melted butter, and sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon sugar.
