Catherine's Creamy Cocoa
Hot cocoa is a sweet and warming treat made richer by the addition of half and half cream. One cup will warm you up even on the coldest days. Add some mini marshmallows for the kids or serve with biscotti for grown ups.
Ingredients
- 5 333/1000 tablespoon(s) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup(s) brown sugar
- 1 pinch(es) salt
- 2 667/1000 ounce(s) boiling water
- 3 1/2 cup(s) milk
- 3/4 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup(s) half and half
Instructions
- Combine the cocoa, sugar and salt in a saucepan.
- Blend in the boiling water.
- Bring this mixture to an low boil while you stir.
- Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes.
- Stir in milk and heat until very hot, but do not boil! Remove from heat and add vanilla.
- Place in 4 mugs.
- Add the cream to the cocoa to cool it to drinking temperature.
