Baked Golden Mandlen
Matzo is a versatile, cracker-like flatbread made from white flour and water. This traditional Jewish staple is used to prepare Mandlen balls that you can use in a variety of recipes, such as Matzo ball soup.
Ingredients
- 3/8 cup(s) matzo meal
- 2 teaspoon(s) cooking oil
- 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
- 1/8 teaspoon(s) pepper
- 2 ounce(s) water
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
Instructions

In a small saucepan combine oil, salt, and pepper.

Add water and bring to a boil.

Stir in matzo meal and cook, stirring until mixture is thick and smooth.

Remove from heat and beat in egg, until thoroughly combined.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Using wet hands, shape mixture into 24 small balls (each about heaping tsp) and set balls on non-stick cookie sheet.

Bake until mandlen are puffed and golden 20-25 minutes.

Leave in oven to dry.

This recipe can be doubled and tripled.
