American Calzone

Filled with a combination of pepperoni, cheese, bell pepper, onion, and spinach, the American calzone is surely a diverse meal. Mix things up with this capable calzone.

Ingredients

  

  • 2 ounce(s) frozen dough
  • 8 ounce(s) pepperoni, sliced paper thin
  • 8 ounce(s) American cheese, sliced paper thin
  • 1/2 cup(s) bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup(s) medium onion, finely chopped
  • 5 ounce(s) frozen spinach, chopped
  • 1 egg, yolk

Instructions

 

  • Grease large bowl and place the frozen dough in a bowl, cover with towel.
  • Put in warm dark spot for 6 to 8 hours.
  • Dough will rise.
  • Roll out dough and spread chopped veggies on dough.
  • Sprinkle drained chopped spinach on top of veggies.
  • Place thin sliced pepperoni on top of veggies, then place thin sliced cheese on top of everything.
  • Now roll the dough tightly.
  • Place rolled calzone on a greased cookie sheet.
  • Brush the yolk of 1 egg over calzone, poke holes in top and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
  • Wait 10 minutes and slice on an angle.
