It goes without saying that one bite of this lasagna, and you’ll be singing, “that’s amore.” Chock full of beef, sausage and cheese, you’ll be feeling saucy after this Italian favorite.

Ingredients

  

  • 1 pound(s) Italian sausage, sweet or hot
  • 1/2 pound(s) ground beef, 85% lean
  • 2 tablespoon(s) garlic, raw
  • 2 tablespoon(s) sugar
  • 1 tablespoon(s) salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon(s) dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) fennel seeds
  • 1 dash(es) pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoon(s) parsley, dried
  • 20 ounce(s) (1 can) whole peeled tomatoes
  • 2 cans tomato paste
  • 16 ounce(s) ricotta cheese
  • 3/4 pound(s) mozzarella, sliced
  • 3/4 cup(s) cheese, parmesan, grated
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

 

  • Saute garlic, sugar, and salt.
  • Add Italian sausage and ground beef and brown.
  • Add basil, fennel, pepper, tomatoes, paste, and simmer sauce for at least 20- 30 minutes, until sauce thickens.
  • Boil noodles and drain.
  • Mix together in a bowl: ricotta cheese, egg, and parsley, if thick ad a little milk.
  • Set aside.
  • Layers: Sauce to cover bottom of pan, 1/2 of the noodles, 1/2 ricotta, sauce, 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, sauce and Parmesan.
  • Bake covered for 25 minutes at 375 degrees.
  • Bake uncovered for 25 minutes.
  • Ready in 2 hours 1 hour prep.
