Classic Cumin Rice
Cumin seed gives this simple rice side dish a smoky Indian fusion. This side, which also features peppers and onions, goes well with fish, pork, meat, and chicken dishes.

- 333/1000 cup(s) chopped onion
- 1/4 cup(s) chopped green pepper
- 1 cup(s) uncooked rice
- 1 ounce(s) bacon drippings (approximately 2 tbsp)
- 2 cup(s) boiling beef broth
- 1 tablespoon(s) Worcestershire sauce
- 3/4 teaspoon(s) cumin seed
Cook onion, pepper and rice in bacon drippings until rice is golden brown.
Use low heat and stir to prevent over-browning.
Turn into shallow 2-quart casserole.
Add drippings, broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt and cumin; stir well.
Cover tightly with lid or foil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
Fluff lightly with fork.
Ready in 40 min.
