Smoky Meatballs

This is a delicious appetizer for carnivores and a bed temptation for vegetarians. It's hard to resist a sweet sauce with onions!

Ingredients
  

  • 24 ounce(s) ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 5 ounce(s) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup(s) quick oats
  • 1/2 cup(s) finely chopped onions
  • 1 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1 teaspoon(s) chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) liquid smoke
  • 2 cup(s) ketchup; sauce
  • 1 1/2 cup(s) brown sugar; sauce
  • 1/2 cup(s) finely chopped onions; sauce
  • 1 teaspoon(s) liquid smoke; sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) garlic powder; sauce

Instructions
 

  • Mix ingredients for meatballs.
  • Shape into small, 1-inch balls.
  • Place on cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 325 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes.
  • Drain.
  • Mix sauce ingredients together in a saucepan.
  • Cook on medium low till sugar dissolves and place meatballs in crock-pot.
  • Add sauce.
  • Cook on low for 4 hours or until onion is tender.
  • Ready in 4 hours.
