Original Fried Catfish

Reel this recipe in and host your own fish fry! This catfish is dipped in buttermilk, then in a dry cornmeal mixture.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 small catfish
  • 2 cup(s) buttermilk
  • 2 cup(s) cornmeal
  • 1/8 teaspoon(s) salt, to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon(s) Ground pepper, to taste

Instructions
 

  • Shake cornmeal, salt and ground pepper in a paper bag.
  • Heat oil to 350 degrees halfway up the sides of a cast iron skillet.
  • Dip catfish in buttermilk, then in dry mixture in bag.
  • Fry about 3 minutes on each side and serve with Hush Puppies.
  • Ready in 30 min.
