Prepare yourself for a touch of grey. These delicate cookies are made using Earl Grey Tea and they can be served anytime -- whether it's an elegant gathering or a relaxing solo afternoon. So start the kettle and raise a cup and saucer.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup(s) sugar, white or brown
  • 2 cup(s) whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup(s) butter, at room temperature
  • 3 pinch(es) salt, table
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 orange, zest
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon(s) Earl Grey tea leaves (about 4 bags)

Instructions
 

  • First, mix up the flour, tealeaves, salt, and sugar.
  • Using an electric mixer, add in the butter, and then add the egg and orange zest.
  • The mixture should be moist but clumpy.
  • Now, you can either make hand-formed cookies here, or follow the next 2 steps.
  • Lightly flour a clean surface, and pat the dough into a circle 1/4 inch thick.
  • Using cookie-cutters, cups or whatever, carefully cut out the cookies and place them on a greased or covered cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 13-15 minutes until edges are lightly browned at 350 degrees.
  • Ready in 35 min.
