Not sure who should know CPR? A good answer is everyone, especially parents. CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is the technique that's used to keep someone alive when they've stopped breathing. CPR can actually save a child's life in the event of a near-drowning, choking, poisoning, smoke inhalation or electrocution. Sadly, less than 4 percent of parents actually know how to perform CPR on children.

According to the American Heart Association, CPR could save the lives of up to 1 million children a year. In the event that someone stops breathing, CPR should be performed to keep that person alive until emergency medical personnel arrive on the scene. Time is of the essence - administering CPR can mean the difference between life and death.
