The YMCA can make you T-H-I-N

Do you take advantage of what your community has to offer? If the answer is "no," then it's time to break out of your shell and see what your city has to offer. Most communities have a YMCA. For a fraction of the price of a sports club, you can take classes, go for a swim, join a basketball league or exercise in the gym at the Y. With more than 2,500 locations, the Y serves more than 20 million people. Take advantage of this community service to help meet your health and fitness needs. It's a great resource not only for adults, but also for kids who want to participate in team sports or learn how to swim. They offer diverse summer camp programs as well. And moms and dads can get in a workout break while taking advantage of free child care in most locations.

Adult programs include strength training, injury rehabilitation, walking, personal fitness, exercise for beginners, yoga, tai chi, healthy back, weight management, and group exercise including aerobics, martial arts exercise, studio cycling, and much more. But it's not just a place for kids to practice their jump shots or breaststroke - many YMCAs include programs in the arts and humanities, education they may be lacking at school. The Y also focuses on wellness programs including stress management and smoking cessation. So whether it's to break a sweat, take lessons or just get in some family time, try singing the Y's praises!
