Beauty Tips from Around the World

Think global when it comes to beauty. Looking outside your own culture and country may help you learn a few tips and tricks that will help speed up your regimen and make you more beautiful, inside and out. First, start from the inside. You may have heard about the diet based on foods popular in France, and it turns out, that same diet can benefit your skin. The vitamins in nuts, cheese, onions and garlic - common in the French diet - are great for hair and nails. That ubiquitous red wine offers antioxidants and polyphenols - also great for the skin. Another glam trick borrowed from the French is wearing red lipstick. It's uncommon to see light lip gloss colors on French women; they favor a bolder, sexier look. And for skin, French women keep it moist.

To avoid dry skin - and the wrinkles that result from it - French women spritz their skin several times daily with purified water or floral water. On the eyes, less is more for Afghan women, who favor only lining their gorgeous, dark eyes with kohl or black eyeliner. Indian women keep their hair beautiful and allow for a relaxing treatment when they get hair oil massages. Once a week, they douse hair with coconut, olive or almond oil and massage the scalp for five minutes. Leave it on for 10 more minutes, and wash out thoroughly. Indian women also use coconut milk to help their hair grow long and thick. Rub onto the scalp, leave on for 30 minutes, and rinse for healthy hair.
