So many shampoos promise to do more than just get your scalp and tresses clean. There are formulas that promise to brighten highlights, strengthen color for various hues, protect hair from UV rays, smooth hair and even help it grow. But how do you know if the claims on the label will really deliver? Skin cancer may not be a concern for your hair itself, but you may notice signs of sun damage in your hair. If your hair is frizzy, breaks easily or is thinning, then why not protect it from the sun? Unfortunately, shampoos with UV protection may not be your best option - they just don't stay on the hair long enough before being rinsed out, along with most of the protection they offer. Keep a hat on your head to protect hair, and opt for styling products that contain UV protection - these will stay in your hair and protect it. The same goes for shampoos that promise to deposit color on your hair. They are simply rinsed too quickly to stay on the hair. However, some products designed for people who have already had their hair colored can help maintain that color by pulling out harsh tones, especially in blondes, wh o may have trouble with brassy or green hues.
