Get the Runway Look

Most of the looks you see during Fashion Week, regardless of where or what season, are so avant-garde that they're difficult to adapt to and work into your regular wardrobe or makeup regimen. Definitely not everyday looks, right? Perhaps, but with a little creativity, there are some takeaways you can use to incorporate the latest trends. This spring and summer, brights are back. The colors on the runway were bold and beautiful. Try a pop of orange in your wardrobe - it's one of the hottest colors of the season and was seen in bags, dresses and shoes in many runway shows. Chartreuse, another hot hue, may be a little tougher to try, but that lovely cool green was featured in a lot of shows. If you're not adventurous enough to try those colors, then stick with neutrals - khaki, gray and black are big for clothing, and nude nails are hip this season. Fashions are showing a little less skin, despite warmer weather coming. Boxy dolman-sleeved shirts are in style, and skirts are getting longer hemlines after a long period of up-to-here dresses seen everywhere.

"Hard to wear" chartreuse already figures prominently in my wardrobe, but ANY shade of orange or coral makes me look like I'm dying of some obscure skin disease :P
So much for staying "on trend" this season, at least as far as color palette is concerned. I'll just have to content myself with buying up Summer & Fall's chunky platform heels. SO much more practical than skinny stilettos for us city girls who walk several miles in workwear just going about our normal day (to and from public transit stops, a dozen blocks round-trip to the cool deli to pick up lunch, etc.).
