There's nothing more embarrassing that a horrid case of halitosis, especially if you're the only person who doesn't know about it. Bad breath is a major turn-off. Food can cause foul odors. Among the biggest offenders are onion, garlic, vegetables and spices. Sometimes brushing your teeth just isn't enough. That's because some foods go into the bloodstream and into the lungs. The smell emits until the food is completely out of your body. Other causes of bad breath include smoking, alcohol, anemia, gum disease and dry mouth. Here are some of the simple ways to contend with bad breath. Gargle with salt water on a regular basis. This reduces the bacteria in the mouth. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day. Brush teeth at least two times a day, especially before going to bed. Brush teeth with baking soda - this will reduce acidity in the mouth and stave off bacteria. Stock up on avocados. These eradicate intestinal decomposition that can contribute to bad breath. Chew on cloves, fennel or anise seeds which will ward off odors.
