For many people, traveling during the holidays has become a way of life. With family members spread out everywhere, you're bound to have to travel. During the holiday season, it's definitely not for the faint of heart. But there are things you can do to ease the pain and make your trip a much more enjoyable one. For starters, you should make your arrangements well in advance.

If you're flying, book your tickets early before rush. You'll be more likely to get the seats you want, and you may also be eligible for more reasonable fares. The same goes for rental cars. For those who will require a rental, reserve your vehicle ahead of time. You don't want to be left hanging at the last minute. Also, when it comes to flights, prepare to wait. You should arrive at the airport AT LEAST two hours in advance. The lines will be hectic, but you want to allow yourself plenty of time. Bring coloring books, video games, light snacks and drinks for the kids. You want to make them as comfortable as possible so that you're wait is as stress-free as it can possibly be.
