Whether it's your coworker, sister or whoever might be expecting a bundle of joy, it can be tough to choose gifts for a new baby or baby shower. It may seem impersonal to choose something from a registry, but remember, the parents-to-be took a lot of time and care to select items that they want and need for their new baby. A gift from the list that they've hand-chosen will be welcome and appreciated. If there is no registry, or you'd rather not choose from it, then there are some universally loved gifts that you can give. Clothing is always a welcome gift, and those beautiful, frilly outfits are tempting. But think about what the baby will actually use in its first few months. Everyday onesies in a cute design are wonderful, useful outfits that parents appreciate. Consider how often a baby will wear a formal outfit - or a handmade one, for that matter. For practical parents, something they can use more frequently is the way to go.

How about people just be grateful for what they get for a change rather than being so demanding. Having a baby doesn't automatically mean that everyone else has to supply a gift for your life choice.

I never did registry for any of my events. i dont beleive in telling the other person that u HAVE to bring me a gift and THIS is what u need to bring. what happend to the facts that gifts r suppose to come from the heart.

The link that brought me here said it was about avoiding a big "baby shower faux pas" - did not see anything about that in the article. This was a big "well, duh" kind of article that contained nothing I couldn't think of myself.

Because there is no law that says you have to buy off a registry, it's a suggested list, not a "Must have" list. It's incredibly poor form to require guests to buy from a registry. People are allowed to use their own imagination when buying baby gifts.

The title of this article is ridiculous, there isn't a single "worst" item mentioned.

I like to stick to the KISS rule (Keep It Simple, Stupid). I don't spend a lot of money on things that kids or babies are only going to use for a very short time, and I aim for something useful rather than adding to the piles of stuffed animals and flashy toys that many of the kids in my life never even seem to touch. I got a sippy cup for my niece's first birthday and it ended up being her favorite present. She wouldn't let go of it for the entire day.

some people have no idea what young parents want or need ... a baby registry becomes a good guideline, especially for out-of-the-area people who are not around the parents much. Others don't need a guide line and can decide for themselves. Well and good for them. Original title for this article was misleading and obviously done by the marketing people to pull readers to the article. The article itself is not bad, just a let down from the original link - no fault to the author if not responsible for the link title. best baby registries I've seen are at wal-mart and target - they want simple, cheap gifts if you want to , but you don't have to. If you have a couple with low income making a registry with Macy's and custom baby boutiques, I don't even look at it. The babysitting coupon book is the best idea - gift that will be remembered later.
