Pack handheld video games, DVD players or iPods to ensure your children don't have idle hands or minds while you're driving. You can also use the driving time to bond with your children. Take the opportunity to discuss how their days are or what they're working on in school. Maybe you could also turn up the radio and have a sing-a-long. Or what about playing an impromptu game of Name That Tune? If your car does temporarily transform into a war zone, the most important rule of thumb is to always keep your cool.
