Rice with Herbs

Most people take plain white rice with a grain of salt. But that can't be said of this delicious side dish that incorporates fresh herbs into the popular dinnertime staple. Serve with chicken, pork and beef.


Rice with Herbs

Ingredients

For 4 people

  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cup(s) uncooked rice (white, brown, or wild)
  • 4 cup(s) chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup(s) butter
  • 1 teaspoon(s) fresh marjoram, diced
  • 1 teaspoon(s) fresh thyme, diced
  • 1 tablespoon(s) fresh parsley, diced
  • 1/10 cup(s) fresh basil, diced

Directions

Sautée onions and garlic in butter, until translucent. Incorporate the rice and spices and cook for several minutes. Stir in chicken broth. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes or until all broth is absorbed.
