Breakfast sandwiches are great until you factor in all the steps: toasting, egg poaching/frying, breakfast meat prep, etc. No wonder there's such a line at the drive-thru in the morning. It's easy to pick up a greasy McMuffin -- but most people don't want to take the time to prepare a more healthful sandwich before they leave home. Plus, factor in the "extras" of a value meal -- hash browns, sugary soda or coffee, etc., and you're not left with much nutritional value.
