Veteran Cast No Longer a Shore Thing

Will they or won't they? That is the question for MTV. Rumor has it that the original Jersey Shore crew is getting the boot from the music network... and when we say boot, we aren't talking about the motherland. Although the current cast consisting of Snooki, JWoww, Pauly D, Vinny, The Situation, Deena, Ronnie and Sammi have made their return to Seaside to finish filming season 5, MTV is supposedly shopping around for a new group of guidos who don't cost a whopping $100,000 an episode. While fans of the bronzed bunch might be freaking out over the news, MTV was quick to confirm to the Hollywood Reporter that they aren't going anywhere. An MTV spokesperson says the reports couldn't be further from the truth. "We love the present cast, and their summer adventures have just begun. We currently have no plans to recast the show." Pauly D maintains that if MTV opts for a new cast, they'll likely be just a wannabes. As opposed to the current cast who are, well, just a bunch of wannabes. Says Pauly D, "I think we're irreplaceable. I don't think they could replace us. They'd just be people trying to be like us, anyway." The resident DJ promises that the upcoming season, which was filmed in Italy, will bring the drama. But this time around, it's the guys who are constantly going at it. He tells People, "It's more of the guys getting into the drama. We're used to it with the girls, but this season it's a lot of the guys ... I think it was as much drama as there was in Miami. Yeah, we got ourselves into some crap. Somehow we always end up OK. There was some serious stuff going on there." Whether or not the Jersey jerks return for another season remains to be seen. However, Snooki and Jwoww, along with Pauly D, have all gotten spin-offs on MTV.
