While most of Hollywood may be chalking up the death of Simon Monjack to a drug overdose, one person who remains steadfast in denial is the dead hanger-on's rep Roger Neal. The 39-year-old who gained fame as Brittany Murphy's husband died suddenly earlier this week. His shocking demise comes just five months after the Clueless actress succumbed to natural causes in the same Hollywood Hills home they shared. Neal maintains that Monjack may have been dealing with some health issues, but he wasn't hooked on drugs as many believe. Neal tells Usmagazine.com, "He let me know that he had scheduled to do a heart surgery, but he elected to wait until he was 100 percent focused, he and Sharon on this gala." Obviously, time wasn't on Monjack's side. Prior to his death, Monjack had been beleaguered by negative press. Many people believe he enabled Murphy and battled his own drug problems. They also claimed he was trying to turn a profit off his dead wife through a charity he set up after her untimely death. Neal maintains he was as committed to the cause as ever the night before he died. Says Neal, "He was fine. He was really excited. He had photos of Brittany that had never been seen, so he was going to do a photo exhibit and take a few of those prints and sell those to the fundraiser for the foundation...I think this whole process of the photo exhibit and the gala was going to be a big part of the healing process." Monjack never got that opportunity. His body was discovered by Murphy's mother the following day. Although reports say that prescription pills were found near his body, Neal says it wasn't an overdose that caused his death, "There was no PMD [police medic] or somebody that tried to say that he overdosed or anything, which we definitely, absolutely do not believe in any way, shape or form. He was too full of life, had too much going on and was too busy. If you're going to check out, you don't do the things he was doing or be as busy as he was."
