Food Network Chef's Goose Is Cooked

Food Network's Calorie Commando had something brewing, but it was nothing worth eating. Juan-Carlos Cruz, former host of The Calorie Commando, was arrested for solicitation of murder after his potential hitmen rolled on the dumb criminal. The former food personality supposedly recruited a handful of homeless people for help in whacking his wife. Unfortunately for Cruz, it appears some of these homeless people wouldn't work for food -- or money. They went right to the cops and spilled the beans. Police set up a sting and popped Cruz, who was arrested and is being held on $5 million bail. According to TMZ, Cruz didn't want to dispose of his wife because she was a picky eater -- she had just inherited a family fortune, and he obviously felt there were too many cooks in the financial kitchen. Oddly enough, police maintain there is no inheritance, so they're not sure why he wanted her out of the way. One thing is for sure -- he was taking the job very seriously. He offered up $1,000 -- ten $100 bills cut in half, along with a box that contained a box cutter, disposable cell phone, gloves and a pocket watch. Cruz apparently wanted three homeless men to slit his wife's throat. The plan was all set until the men snitched Cruz out and police set up a sting. No word on whether the men ever got the other half of the $100 bills. If things were too hot in Cruz's marriage, he should have just gotten out of the kitchen. At least they can put him to work in the bighouse kitchen.
