Michael Lohan's Pressing Matters

Daddy dearest Michael Lohan is in the running for d-bag dad of the year yet again. This time around he's riding the coattails of daughter Lindsay's erratic behavior. Never one to miss the opportunity to give a soundbite or 20, the Lohan patriarch did what all concerned parents do -- he held a press conference about the Freaky Friday actress and her troubles, speaking very publicly about these private matters. With Lindsay's peers, as well as law enforcement sources, voicing their concerns for Lindsay, Michael also took the opportunity to speak his piece. The conference came shortly after tabloid reports that many media outlets had already started drafting the 23-year-old's obituary. In a statement given at his attorney's New York office, Lohan said, "People around her that know Lindsay know she's not ok. I get calls from some of her closest friends when they're out with her during the night. I don't want her to be a statistic. The press is already writing obits for her. How sick is that?" Of course, he also took the opportunity to defend his actions, "Extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures. I've tried every way possible to reach out to my daughter. I've called, texted...in difficult times she reaches out to me for help. Last week she called me when she fell into the cactus. She said 'Daddy, I need security.' This is not about publicity. I'm beat up in the press. It hurts the people around me." One person who isn't buying the protective parent bit is Lindsay's mom and Michael's ex-wife Dina. She told TMZ, "I have a criminal protective order against him 'til 2011. He's 1 year behind in child support and he's using this [Lindsay's problems] as a diversion." And the Orange Oprah maintains that Lindsay is doing just fine despite reports to the contrary, "Lindsay is in good hands. Everything is fine. He's trashing a child he doesn't even see." Obviously, Dina hasn't seen the cactus pics.
