Panic at the Morrissey Concert
SPONSORED:
Heaven knows he's miserable now. It probably wasn't a thorn in his side, but Morrissey definitely had something wrong with him at an England concert Saturday night. The former Smiths lead singer wasn't feeling so charming when he collapsed during a show. The 50-year-old new wave singer was finishing up his first song, "This Charming Man," when things went bad. One concertgoer described Morrissey as appearing under the weather. "He kept putting his hand up to his mouth as if he felt sick or ... perhaps he was trying to hide something, but he didn't look particularly comfortable." The show went on -- but not for long. When he collapsed, two band members dragged him off the stage and an ambulance was called. According to the ambulance service, "Just after 9 p.m. [local time] we got a call to a 50-year-old who was reported to be suffering from respiratory problems and was unconscious. We sent a paramedic in a double-crewed ambulance. When they arrived, they found a conscious patient who was not feeling well at all. They made an initial assessment and took him to the Great Western Hospital for further assessment." Morrissey was held overnight as a precautionary measure but has since been released. Although he's feeling better, a show this week has been cancelled.
