His body isn't a wonderland after all. "Who Says" singer John Mayer underwent surgery to remove a granuloma on just above his vocal cord last week. The 34-year-old had been playing the "wait-and-see" game before opting for surgery. But nothing seemed to help -- not voice rest or any other approaches. Mayer took to his blog to give fans an update on his health. He's now on vocal rest for a month or more. Mayer says he refuses to let the silent treatment get him down. He writes, "I should be frustrated but I can't seem to stop thinking about beautiful things... I never thought I'd be wishing I could do what I love again; I stay in at night, picking guitar parts off of records and dreaming of playing on the big stage. The only difference between now and when I was 18 is that now I have this beautiful, meaningful record waiting for me when I can sing it."In the meantime, Mayer plans on Jack Kerouac-ing it and traveling the country. His concerts had already been cancelled and his next album has been pushed back to 2012. Funny it takes a growth to actually silence the usually outspoken singer.
