Is It Independence Day for the Fresh Prince?

Reports have surfaced that one of Hollywood's major power couples is splitting. In Touch is reporting that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are separating. News broke Tuesday morning that there was a Hitch in the Smith union, and when TMZ called Jada's rep, Karynne Tencer, the early hour seemed to catch her off guard, as she issued the following statement: "What? In Touch said that? I know nothing about this ... Lord. I'm going back to bed." Later in the day, Will's son from a previous marriage, Trey, tweeted that his dad and stepmom definitely were still in The Pursuit of Happyness: "Will and Jada getting a DIVORCE ..NOT TRUE AT ALL!! RETWEET." The Smiths have been together for a rock-solid 13 years and have two children, Karate Kid star Jaden and "Whip My Hair" singer Willow. Another source close to the family told Us Weekly that the report was "bullsh*t." And in 2009, Jada shot down speculation about their relationship: "I've heard all the things -- their marriage is not real, he's gay, she's gay, they swing," the Hawthorne actress said. "But at the end of the day, people have to believe what they have to believe. I'll tell you what, it's too hard to be in a pretend marriage. Life's too short for that one." Later -- after she woke up, we assume -- Tencer issued the following statement, after Jada was linked to her Hawthorne costar and one-half of another doomed couple: "Everything about Jada and Marc Anthony is false," Pinkett Smith's rep says. She adds: "In regard to Jada and Will, I will not comment on their personal lives." The couple's joint statement read: "Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false." Sounds like neither will be signing their Hancock on divorce papers anytime soon.
