Walters Takes Paris to Task

The World According to Paris ain't so great after all. Reality star and celebutant Paris Hilton was attacked by veteran View host Barbara Walters last week. The blonde bubblehead appeared on the ABC talkfest alongside mom Kathy Hilton to promote her new Oxygen reality show. While everybody expected the interview to be lighthearted and fun, Walters apparently had her own agenda, which included lambasting the pampered party girl. Both Walters and fellow View co-host Whoopi Goldberg agreed that the show's first episode, which ironically bombed, didn't portray the heiress in the best light. In fact, Walters slammed Paris for simply being herself -- shopping, clubbing, throwing back cocktails and whining about court-ordered community service. To add insult to injury, Walters then brought up Paris' vow to aid female prisoners and submerge herself in charity work. Of course, none of those promises materialized. Walters then told Paris, "Why not present that side of yourself, if indeed it exists." One would think that Walters would realize by now what makes for good ratings... and that definitely isn't it. Following the Hiltons' unhappy appearance on the View, patriarch Rick Hilton went off on producers for the spirit of the interview, Page Six is reporting. Reps for the show tell the paper the confrontation did take place.
