It was the elimination heard around the world. Just weeks into the American Idol competition, frontrunner Pia Toscano was ousted by America. The brunette bombshell from New York was visibly shaken by the bad news when she found herself at the bottom of the barrel along with Stefano Langone and Jacob Lusk. Unfortunately for Pia, the cute crooner was sent packing. Toscano told Us, "I really don't know. You can't really say why I got voted off. It could have been people maybe assumed I was safe, [or] maybe they didn't. Maybe there was a lack of connection." Pia wasn't the only one was shocked by the way the voting swung. All three judges were at a loss as to what could have happened to Toscano. AI judge Jennifer Lopez took the loss the hardest, crying at the announcement. However, all was not lost for Toscano. While America didn't save the 22-year-old, Interscope Records and Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine sure did. Just one day after her swan song on AI, the contestant signed a deal with Interscope Records. An insider tells Radaronline.com, "Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP. Starting Thursday night after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her and first thing Friday morning Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it. Papers are being finalized. It's basically a done deal. She's signing. They rushed everything, but she's so excited."
