Russell Brand: The Anti-Gold Digger
Russell Brand could have been the $22 million man, but he's chosen not to go after his soon-to-be-ex-wife's fortune. In a case of life imitating art, the Arthur leading man has apparently decided that money isn't everything. So he plans on leaving Katy Perry's bank account unscathed. According to TMZ, the British funny guy was entitled to half of the "Teenage Dream" singer's earnings during their 14-month marriage, which would translate to a financial windfall for Brand. In that time, Perry brought home a whopping $44 million, Forbes says. Half of that could have had Brand's name on it, but he supposedly opted to walk away with none of her hard-earned money. A source says that Brand is playing the good guy. Says the insider, "This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a mensch (Yiddish for a good person)." Although Brand is a star in his own right, his paychecks pale in comparison to that of his ex. Brand's legal eagle filed papers to make their divorce official Tuesday. A few million would probably make the split far less painless, but who's counting?
