Tennis phenom Serena Williams suffered a major health scare. The 29-year-old athlete was taken to a Los Angeles hospital with a pulmonary embolism this week. Her rep issued the following statement, "Monday Serena Williams underwent emergency treatment at Cedars for a hematoma she suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation. Last week, Serena suffered from a pulmonary embolism [a blood clot in the lungs] which was discovered upon her return to L.A. She had been in New York for doctor appointments for the ongoing issues with her foot." Last fall, the temperamental tennis player injured her foot after stepping on broken glass while leaving a restaurant following the Wimbledon tournament. Since hurting her foot, she's been out of the game.
