Regis Philbin is readying for his final curtain call. The television mainstay told his audience that this will be his final year on Live! With Regis and Kelly. The decision comes after almost three decades on the morning gabfest. Philbin said, "This will be my last year on the show. It's been a long time. It's been 28 years. It's been an enormous thrill. Everything must come to an end..especially with certain old people." Although the popular show will go on, they aren't saying who will replace the 79-year-old codger -- who's actually seemed a little past his prime for some time now. The aging television personality promised viewers that there's still plenty of fun to be had before he signs off for good. He added, "This is gonna happen sometime the end of the summer -- we'll have a lot of fun between now and then!" One person who was saddened to see Philbin go is Ripa who told her co-host," I can only speak for America and all of us here: It has been a pleasure and a privilege and a dream come true and I wish I could do something to change your mind!"
