One of Oprah's favorite things these days appears to be her dad, Vernon. That's because the Queen of All Media recently helped him out in a big way by buying up his foreclosed-on barbershop in Nashville, Tenn. According to RadarOnline.com, Vernon Winfrey has become a fixture in his East Nashville community and has run a barbershop for 50 years. His financial troubles came when he and his wife, Barbara, made the decision to move into a new building last year. Since then, they've become victims of the poor economy and ultimately owed $481,000 on the $350,000 building, Barbara told a local TV station. The property went up for auction, where it was snapped up for $475,000 by none other than Oprah. The OWNer's spokesperson confirmed the purchase, saying her dad "will continue to manage the business on a day to day basis." But Barbara Winfrey is furious about her stepdaughter's purchase because she preferred Vernon borrow the money from a bank. "I know what is going on. I'm tired of it, and I've had enough," Barbara told WSMV TV in Nashville. "He believes what he's told. His daughter doesn't care about the community. His daughter doesn't care about the barbershop. But I do." In response, Vernon Winfrey told the station, "My wife and I, we have not been getting along well, and I did not want to endow myself to another drawn-out, struggling debt." Not getting along well would be an understatement - Vernon filed for divorce from Barbara on Tuesday.
