Being a new parent is stressful enough, but if your child was born recently at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, it just got even more stressful. That's because the security detail surrounding the newest rock royalty, Blue Ivy Carter, and her parents, Beyonce and Jay-Z is so tight that some parents are having trouble just getting to their new babies. The New York Daily News reports that a New York man was barred from seeing his newborn twins and wife as he tried to visit Friday after his wife delivered premature twin girls Wednesday. "Three times they [security] stopped me from entering or exiting the NICU (Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit) and it happened once on Friday -- just because they wanted to use the hallway," said Nick Coulon. One "Ingrid Jackson" - aka Beyonce -- checked into the hospital Saturday to deliver her daughter via C-section. The VIPs spent $1.3 million to seal off and redecorate one wing of the hospital and are obviously getting their money's worth with the people paid to keep her safe. Other than the food and wine delivery Saturday night, that is. "This is the NICU. Nobody cares if you're a celebrity. Nobody is star-gazing. They just want to see their children," Coulon said.
In another Lenox incident, TMZ reports that a group of new mothers who met for breastfeeding classes were treated "extremely rudely" by the security people on the Carters' payroll. Hospital representatives haven't addressed this incident, but hospital spokeswoman did say of the Coulons' experience: "We take patient satisfaction very seriously. This is the first time I'm hearing about it." Probably not the last, however.
