Not since Orson Welles' War of the Worlds has a hoax been so carefully orchestrated. Last week numerous media outlets were clamoring at the prospect that bubble-headed blonde Heidi Montag had finally come to her senses (the little she has) and left husband Spencer Pratt. However, those hopes have quickly faded as it's starting to appear that the entire "split" was likely a bid for publicity. With the end of The Hills done, the creepy couple is obviously looking for a new way to facilitate their income. Seeing how they're on the outs with friends and family, the deceptive duo obviously concocted this scheme to garner attention while also pitching a new reality television show that centers around Montag's faux single status and the ongoing conflict between her and her harried estranged hubby. There's only one problem with the plot -- it couldn't be further from the truth. Although the plastic princess maintained she had left Pratt because he had been placing negative press, the media has apparently become more the wiser when it comes to Speidi and the tangled web they're weaving. One course says that Pratt dropped in on Montag this week, and love was still very much in the air. The source tells Radaronline.com, "Heidi and Spencer are obviously still on speaking terms. I would be surprised if he isn't even living at the house." And Usmagazine.com reports that the couple is having a field day being back in the limelight. An insider tells the mag, "Heidi and Spencer are laughing over it and having a blast." Another source tells Us that Pratt is still ever the puppet master pulling everybody's strings. Says the source, "This breakup is the latest part of Spencer's master plan."
