Former Vice-President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, may have just celebrated their 40th anniversary on May 19, but it looks like there will be no more recounts for the couple. Al Gore is known for his devout dedication to the environment, and his wife is known for...well, ruining rock music with those black and white parental advisory stickers. Tipper started the Parents' Music Resource Center in 1985 to get those labels affixed to albums that contain offensive lyrics. But the divorce has nothing to do with Al's penchant for heavy metal...or Tipper's refusal to sort the recycling. In an e-mail entitled "E-mail from Al and Tipper Gore," the couple announced their decision to separate. "We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate. "This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further," the e-mail read. Gore's camp verified the split.
