E! Correspondent Giuliana Rancic isn't taking any chances with her health. The brunette beauty has made the radical decision to have both breasts removed after lumpectomies didn't succeed in completely removing cancer. The 36-year-old was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and has been very public about her struggle. Although the reality star could have undergone another lumpectomy and radiation, she opted to follow in the footsteps of fellow celebs and cancer survivors Christina Applegate and Wanda Sykes and get a double mastectomy. The procedure is basically life assurance as it means there is less than a 1 percent if the cancer returning. Rancic announced her decision alongside with husband Bill Rancic on the Today show. She explained, "For me, it was important to get the cancer out. That's what I wanted to do, just get it out." Had she gone with another lumpectomy and radiation, it would have been years before she could take another attempt at motherhood, which wasn't an option she wanted to entertain. The Giuliana and Bill reality star was preparing for another round of fertility treatments when her cancer was discovered. While part of her decision to undergo the double mastectomy had to do with her unfulfilled desire to get pregnant, it really came down to defying death. She added, "At the end, to be honest, all it came down to was just choosing to live, and not looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life. Bill said to me, 'I just need you around for the next 50 years, kid,'" she said. "He said, 'I don't care what you look like, I don't care about the physical portion of this. I just need you around for the next 50 years. So, let's just get you healthy.' And that certainly helped me come to a decision."
