And then there was one... Corey Haim, one of the stars of The Two Coreys, died of a drug overdose at the age of 38. The actor collapsed in his mother's apartment with four prescription bottles close to his body. According to TMZ, he had been suffering from flu-like symptoms for a couple of days. But the pill bottles found in his vicinity didn't have anything to do with the flu. Sources tell TMZ that Haim got out of bed in the middle of the night and collapsed in front of his mother, who called 911. Haim was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Hospital. Although his death may be shocking, it's hardly surprising. The star of such '80s classics as The Lost Boys, Lucas and License to Drive had a very public battle with drugs, one that likely contributed to the demise of his career. Despite appearing in more than 40 films, Haim had little to show for his efforts. In one interview, he admitted to a whopping 15 rehab stints. He told a reporter, "I started on the downers which were a hell of a lot better than the uppers because I was a nervous wreck. But one led to two, two led to four, four led to eight, until at the end it was about 85 a day. The doctors could not believe I was taking that much. And that was just the Valium -- I'm not talking about the other pills I went through. I lived in L.A. in the 80s, which was not the best place to be. I did cocaine for about a year and a half, then it led to crack." At one point, Haim even suffered a stroke from his drug use, "I was 200 pounds -- I weigh about 140 normally -- and I couldn't feel the left side of my body. I was numb and I had a lot of swollen lymph nodes, my heart was hurting and I had blood clots in my arm and leg." Haim supposedly cleaned up his act in 2004. However, it became apparent while filming The Two Coreys, with his longtime sidekick Corey Feldman, that Haim was off the wagon. After two seasons, A & E cancelled the show, and Feldman refused to talk to Haim until he got sober. The two Coreys were spotted out and about in Hollywood just last month.
