Is America ready to idolize Charlie Sheen? He thinks so. The 46-year-old Anger Management actor could possibly be a contender for television's most popular talent contest. The fate of the current judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez is reportedly in limbo. But it sounds like Nigel Lythgoe is already entertaining some big names to fill any empty seats. Among the people who he would like to see toss their hats in the ring are Charlie Sheen and Jerry Lewis. Veteran entertainer Jerry Lewis might not seem like a stretch, although at 86 years old, it's hard to believe he would be a good judge of what's hip these days. However, Sheen seems like an odd contender, considering his biggest claim to fame besides acting is his appetite for drugs and hookers. More than likely, Lythgoe was making his wish list in jest when he named Sheen and Lewis to TMZ. However, Sheen tells the site he would happily come aboard provided that his new bosses at FX agreed. His second stipulation? "If the numbers move the needle AND 'Idol' matches 20% of my weekly salary for Autism Speaks, JDRF, and the Boys and Girls Club ... then the hell with it. As we say, pour the smoke." So while Sheen could conceivably become part of the AI family, the former telethon host is a different story. No word on whether or not he would consider leaving his gig directing a stage play of The Nutty Professor to take a seat at the table. One thing is for sure -- these two judges probably wouldn't hold a whole lot of appeal with younger viewers who have no clue who either is.
